Ready to communicate to your learners about the course? Here are some pre-launch communication tips.
👤 This article is for the main point of contact for a participating organization.
Each of our clients may have different needs for communicating with their learners. Below please find a buffet of various samples of texts, videos and overall tips.
Quick Navigation
Tips to draft your announcement(s):
-
- Include a description of the course (click here to see 2 options we provide)
- Include videos, such as the 2-minute course video trailer, to show your learners the high quality of the engaging multimedia in the course and the spirit of the initiative as a whole (click here -we've got you covered with several other mini video options below!)
- Let them know they will receive a course enrollment email from: 4Seasons@ReconciliationEducation.ca
We recommend two announcements: A first general announcement with some video trailers a week or two in advance; followed by a second communication 2-3 days immediately before the launch to remind learners to expect the course 'Welcome email' in their inbox, and to reiterate the course completion deadlines (if applicable).
Provide them with specifics:
-
- Let your learners know what your launch date or dates are. If you plan to extend training in phases, you can include that information as well
- Can they learn at their own pace or in one sitting, is there is a deadline to complete the course by? Communicating learning expectations & deadlines early makes for successful launches!
- Encourage a positive social peer learning environment by letting learners know to whom in the organization this course is available, and if you plan for discussions or closing events
-
- Inform your team that learner group reports will provide your organization an update on learner progress through the course, and towards your organization's goal of meeting the TRC Calls to Action in the workplace - it's helpful to be transparent to your employees that their course completion progress will be tracked.
- Don't forget to mention the certificate of completion from the First Nations University of Canada - learners love their certificates!
- Finally, look for places to permanently post these announcements, such as internal organization forums, websites, HR newsletters, or in your organization's intranet.

Developed in partnership with the First Nations University of Canada, this award-winning resource assists the workplace and education sectors in meeting the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action and has reached over 76,000 Canadians from across the country.

Text Option 5:
This multimedia course provides a basic, foundational knowledge on truth and reconciliation that nearly all Canadians missed during their education journey, and is intended for Indigenous and non-Indigenous learners. The course and its bonus video library shine a bright light on the contributions of Indigenous Peoples, debunk myths, stereotypes and racism while meeting the Calls to Action in the workplace from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC).
4 Seasons of Reconciliation follows Indigenous principles and is guided and overseen by the First Nations University of Canada to offer bilingual courses for secondary, post-secondary, and the workplace.
